Volunteer Week - Carter Radcliffe, Young Ambassador 2026 Award

🌟 Volunteer Week 2026 Spotlight: Celebrating Carter — Young Ambassador Award 2026

Today, we are honoured to share the story of a family who are no strangers to Handmade with Love & Making Memories CIC — a family who have stood beside us, raised awareness, fundraised, created, shared, and remembered a beautiful young lady called Katy. Their dedication has touched so many hearts, and it feels only right to begin today’s Volunteer Week spotlight with someone very special.

💛 Meet Carter — Age 10, Young Ambassador Award 2026

Carter has been volunteering with us for a couple of years now, and at just ten years old, he has shown a level of kindness, creativity, and compassion far beyond his years. This year, Carter was chosen for our Young Ambassador Award 2026, which includes a well‑deserved family day out in Blackpool — rides, arcades, sunshine, ice cream, and candy floss with his siblings. A day to celebrate everything he has given to others.

🎄 A Christmas Idea That Changed Everything

Around Christmas time, Carter wasn’t attending school for various reasons, and both the school and I were worried he might miss out on the joy and connection that school life brings. The school holds a Christmas Fun Day every year, and Carter came to us with a beautiful idea:

He wanted to make Christmas Pocket Hugs to help raise funds for the school.

This wasn’t just a fundraiser — it was a project that required planning, creativity, and heart. Carter sourced the items, designed the cards, and put each hug together with care. His idea brought joy to the school, raised funds, and reminded everyone of the power of kindness.

🎅 Santa Never Forgets

Alongside his school project, Carter helped his mum create Christmas Kindness Packs, which — with a little help from a very busy man in a red suit — were delivered to Eastfield Cemetery in Cumbernauld. These packs were placed for the babies and children resting there, a gentle reminder that Santa Never Forgets.

Acts like these show the depth of Carter’s empathy. Even at ten years old, he understands the importance of remembrance, compassion, and community.

🧶 A Young Crafter With a Big Heart

Over the last six to seven months, Carter has taught himself to crochet and knit, and he is now working on butterflies, baby loss ribbons, and a few secret creations for Handmade with Love. His dedication to learning new skills — not for himself, but for others — is truly inspiring.

🌼 A Role Model in Every Sense

It is an honour to have Carter as part of our volunteer team. He is a role model to other young people, a joy to work alongside, and a shining example of how love, creativity, and compassion can make a real difference — no matter your age.

Carter, we are so proud of you. Your kindness is felt far and wide, and your work continues to honour Katy in the most beautiful way. We are all so proud to work alongside you. Thank you for being you!
