Rainbow Stars • Volunteer Stories
Some people join a team.Others become part of its heartbeat.Sheila is the latter — a woman whose kindness, skill, and unwavering dedication have touched hundreds of families and every single one of us who work beside her.
Every year, Sheila smashes the target for Baby Loss Awareness Ribbons. Not once. Not twice. Every single year. She pours her time, her hands, and her heart into creating something that carries meaning far beyond the ribbon itself — dignity, remembrance, and love.
💗 A Lifetime of Care
As a retired social worker, Sheila has spent her life supporting families through their hardest moments. That compassion didn’t end when she retired — she simply brought it here, to us, to the parents who need it most, and to the volunteers who rely on her warmth and wisdom.
There are not enough words to say thank you to any of our volunteers, and I am rarely stuck for words. But Sheila… for all the parents who have had a baby under 18 weeks, you gave them dignity. For the hundreds you have helped through your beautiful donations and kindness, you have given something priceless — choice, comfort, and the knowledge that their tiny little one mattered.
🌸 A Personal Thank You
Sheila, I wish I had met you 21 years ago when I had my little boy. Holding on to those tiny outfits and cribs has brought tears, anger, and heartbreak — but also healing. Knowing that families today do get the choice to dress their tiny baby, to have a special crib, to feel cared for… that is because of volunteers like you.
🧵 A Woman Who Never Stops Learning
You set yourself so many tasks. You’ve learnt new skills. You’ve pushed yourself, grown, created, and given without hesitation.
We first met when you were running Liam’s Legacy, honouring your friend’s little boy, who sadly passed away. Even then, your heart was leading the way.
🤍 A Pillar of Our Team
As a team, a charitable organisation, and a support network, you are truly one of the pieces that hold
us all together. Your loyalty, your compassion, your humour, your strength — they lift us every day.
🌟 Thank You, Sheila
Thank you for your hard work.Thank you for your dedication.Thank you for the care you give with every project, every ribbon, every stitch, every act of kindness.
You are a Rainbow Star in every sense of the word — and we are so lucky to have you.
