🌿 A Quiet, Lifelong Connection

When a baby begins to grow within the womb, something extraordinary happens — something quiet, biological, and profoundly tender. During pregnancy, tiny groups of fetal cells cross the placenta and take up residence within the mother’s body. This phenomenon is called microchimerism, and it means that a mother carries a small number of her baby’s cells for decades, perhaps for life. For parents who have experienced the heartbreak of losing a baby during or after pregnancy, this knowledge can offer a gentle kind of comfort: a part of your baby remains with you, woven into your very being.
