Charley’s Mental Health Journey
APUK Campaign Edition
For eight years, Charley has walked a mental health journey shaped by grief, therapy, trusted conversations, and the right medical support.
After losing Timothy, Charley reached out to Angel Parents UK and Worldwide for a memory box. In that moment of deep pain, a connection was made — one that opened the door to real support. With gentle guidance, Charley was signposted to EMDR therapy, helping her begin to process the trauma of loss and the difficult hospital experience.
As healing slowly began, Charley chose to give back. She joined the APUK volunteer team, offering the same compassion she had received. But healing isn’t linear. Four years ago, Charley reached another low point and bravely sought professional help. She received a diagnosis of EUPD and began medication to support her well-being.
Throughout it all, the APUK community — volunteers, directors, and friends — stood beside her. They listened. They encouraged. They helped her navigate the hardest days and celebrated the brighter ones.
Charley shares her story to remind every parent and every family:
You are not alone.
We may walk the same path, but each of us walks in different shoes.
If you are struggling, please reach out at any time or day; someone is always available online within the baby loss community. Without APUK's help and support, I too would have struggled to continue without Timothy.
